Madhavakund master plan will increase opportunities for biodiversity conservation


The Minister of Environment, Forestry and Climate Change Mo: Shahab Uddin said that the Master Plan has been approved for overall development including eco-tourism by increasing biodiversity conservation, sustainable management and recreational facilities in the Madhbakund Eco-Park area.

He said, after the successful completion of the project activities in the Madhabakund area, the number of visitors will undoubtedly increase day by day, the country’s wealth will be created through forestry activities, infrastructure construction and revenue growth.

Today, Wednesday, in the meeting room of the Ministry of Environment, Forestry and Climate Change at the Secretariat of Bangladesh, the Minister of Environment said this at a meeting held on the occasion of the approval of the master plan of Barolekha Upazila Madhabkund Ecopark in Moulbhibazar District.

The minister said that based on the existing land use and management, the proposed area will be divided into 3 zones. There will be a forest conservation zone for the conservation of forests, hill slopes and catchment areas around forests etc. where rare and rare species of plants and animals will be preserved. The total area of ​​the forest conservation zone will be 925 acres. An ecotourism zone with various facilities including an information center, a museum has been proposed in the project area. The area of ​​the ecotourism zone in the park area will be 3.96 acres.

It should be noted that under the master plan, a cable car will be installed for visitors to Madhabkund. In addition, a foot trail near waterfall, an ethnographic museum, a mosque, a restaurant, a coffee corner, a canopy rest area with seating and 5 souvenir shops will be built in the main parking area. In addition, waste management plant, central bus and car parking, children’s corner, light vehicle parking, public park, garden enrichment, existing facilities will be rehabilitated. Water supply, water drainage system, electricity supply, boundary wall, eco-lodge on privately owned land, security checkpoints, waterfall monitoring platform, water fall monitoring platform, first aid/emergency rescue center will be established in the park area.
