A demand was made for the preservation of this world heritage on a research trip to the Sundarbans by the students of the Department of Environmental Science, Stamford University Bangladesh.

On Tuesday (March 14), they observed the Harbaria Eco Tourism Center of Sundarban East Division and made this human chain. Before this, 70 teachers and students left for the Sundarbans from Siddeshwari University campus in the capital on Monday night to study the effect of noise, air and plastic pollution in the region and the damage of climate change under the leadership of Prof. Dr. Ahmad Kamruzzaman Majumder. After the next 3 days of research, they will return to Dhaka on Thursday.

On the morning of the first day of the tour, this team arrived at Herbaria Eco Tourism Center in Sundarbans. During that time, they saw an disturbing amount of plastic garbage floating by the river and in the forest. These environmental science students stood in human chain as form of a protest. They demanded the implementation of the declaration of plastic ban on the coasts of the country from human chains, taking effective steps to protect the Sundarbans and bringing an end to the use of fossil fuel based power plants to prevent air pollution and climate change.

Under the banner of Stamford University Atmospheric Pollution Study Center (CAPS), Dean of the Faculty of Science and CAPS Chairman Professor Dr. Ahmad Kamruzzaman Majumder, Professor of Environmental Science Department Gulshan Ara Latifa, Dr. Mahmuda Parveen, Mahmuda Islam and Marziat Rahman and others delivered their valuable speeches.
